Your data, your choices
Privacy policy
LotBook helps you catalogue your collection. This policy explains how the app handles data and which choices you control.
Your collection
Collection records, photos, documents, transactions, valuations and notes are stored in the app’s local data store. LotBook does not operate a developer-hosted account service, advertising service or analytics service for this data.
If you enable iCloud sync, Apple processes and stores your collection data through iCloud and CloudKit so it can be available on your devices. Availability depends on your Apple Account, iCloud settings, storage and network connection. App Lock settings remain local to each device.
Shared collections
When you choose to share, selected items are uploaded to Apple’s CloudKit sharing service. Your originals remain in My Collection. Owners choose the included items and invited people; participants have read-only access in this version.
The Core sharing option limits the information shared. Complete includes additional details after the owner confirms that choice. Review the selected profile and items before inviting someone. An email address or phone number you enter or select for an invitation is used to look up and invite that person through Apple’s service. LotBook does not upload your entire address book.
Names you assign to shared-collection members are private to your Apple Account and may sync through your private CloudKit database. Local invitation contact information helps you manage invitations.
Recipients may keep copies they have already downloaded, exported or captured. Removing access cannot recall those copies.
Photos, documents and recognition
Camera and photo access are used when you choose to add images or scan documents. Invoice recognition uses Apple frameworks on your device. On supported devices, on-device Apple Foundation Models may help structure recognised information. You can review results before saving.
LotBook does not send invoice images or recognised text to a LotBook AI server. Original invoice files are retained when you choose to keep them. Backups, reports and exports leave the app when you request an export, print or sharing action and select a destination.
Purchases and updates
Pro purchases and purchase restoration are handled by Apple’s App Store services. LotBook uses verified StoreKit transactions to determine access and does not receive your payment card details.
Update checks contact Apple’s public App Store lookup service using the app’s bundle identifier, platform and App Store region. Collection contents, recipient addresses and purchase history are not included. Apple receives ordinary network request information, including the IP address. The last check, dismissed update version and viewed release notes are stored on your device.
Backups, deletion and retention
You can manage collection records and sharing, choose whether to enable iCloud, and export a backup of your personal data. Apple Account and iCloud storage settings are managed through Apple. Sync and deletion may require a network connection and time to propagate.
Personal backups include your owned shared-collection selections. When restored, these become drafts with new identities. Restoring a backup does not grant recipients access: review the drafts and invite people again if you wish to share them.
Before replacing or deleting My Collection, LotBook must confirm removal of your existing owned shared collections through iCloud. If that cleanup cannot finish, your existing personal items remain and you can retry. Collections shared with you are managed separately. Keep a backup before replacing or deleting data.
